In early September, I had a heart attack; this caused Mary and I to reconsider maintaining Arizona Gun Talk. The decision to continue was difficult because we can't predict when and if the president's strong anti-gun sentiments will translate into gun-control initiatives. We therefore decided to make our decision on maintaining the website based first principles, that is, how we personally see the threat to gun ownership - our views are summarized below:
- The president has staffed his administration with radicals not in spite of their revolutionary beliefs but because of them.
- These radical progressives will press for "social justice" as they define it. That definition looks increasingly like some bizarre mixture of Socialism and Marxism accompanied by an element of slavery reparations.
- To achieve the goal of "social justice," progressives will continue to expand government power. The ultimate form of government power is citizen disarmament - that makes gun-control a key objective of the Obama administration.
We believe this assessment is realistic and predict the administration will pursue citizen disarmament if the president thinks it has any chance of success. Those who respect the Constitution must therefore resist gun-control initiatives and maintain a no compromise defense against weapons confiscation. Mary and I have therefore decided to maintain this website in opposition to gun-control measures for as long as we're able.
The Articles & Letters Section contains our May 2009 letter to local Sheriff Steve Waugh about resisting unconstitutional federal edicts. It's included to encourage website visitors to contact their respective sheriffs.
In the Poster Section, the HISTORY DEMONSTRATES Poster text discusses why we're compelled by our heritage to own weapons capable of defending freedom.
