GUN SALES CONTINUE TO CLIMB
2009-09-14

The number of NICS background checks for August is available and the trend of rising gun sales continues. For comparison, in 2007, 11,177,335 checks were reported for the year; 2008 ended with 12,709,023 checks, and the pace through August of this year indicates that over 14,200,000 checks are possible before 2009 ends. Since an NICS check can cover purchase of more than one firearm, the numbers presented here are conservative estimates of the number of guns purchased. It should be noted that a growing number of firearms acquired are semi-automatic rifles with detachable magazines.

Add to this the fact that the country's murder rate is decreasing and you have hard evidence that more guns do not equate to increased violence. It's difficult to see how progressives will spin these facts into a requirement for new gun-control laws but they'll surely find a way.

WEBSITE HAPPENINGS

The Patriot Posters Section presents the website's newest poster called the CZAR GOVERNMENT. The poster and supporting text demonstrate the administrations' aggregation of power to the Executive Branch. The text shows that the desire for greater power and control extends across administration actions beyond the appointment of Czars.
