Poster 43 The "Bait-and-Switch" Background Check Bill
2019-08-12

This poster and text continue to warn gun owners about a prospective law called the "Bipartisan Background Check Act of 2019." It mandates that all non-family gun transfers require a background check administered by a Federal Firearms License (FFL) holder. By controlling transfers as opposed to sales the Act is gun-control by administrative exhaustion. For example, loaning a friend your plinking rifle is a transfer requiring two FFL holder supervised background checks; one for the loan and another for the return. The text provides examples to show that the Act will vastly complicate ownership of firearms without providing an increase in public safety.

WEBSITE HAPPENINGS

A poster called the "Bait-and-Switch" Background Check Bill and its supporting text went live on 12 August. Its text goes far beyond showing the Bill's effect on gun owners; it also examines events associated with the 2016 election. During the campaign, Obama administration officials conspired to elect Hillary Clinton. Having failed, they initiated a bogus Russia collusion investigation to undermine and eventually to nullify the Trump presidency. Their efforts can reasonably be seen as the most serious threat to the Republic since the civil war. Future Arizona Gun Talk postings will stress that the individual right to keep and bear arms recognized in the Heller decision is accompanied by a parallel right of individual states to use force in defending against a despotic federal government.
