Mary's Tribute Poster
2023-08-07

This poster text honors the gun-rights advocacy of my late wife Mary Coverdell-Cox. Mary's ideas were often the foundation of our pro 2nd Amendment work. There are many examples but only two are presented in the Tribute Poster text. The first is her creative approach to opposing gun registration. Second is the innovative way she chose to ridicule assault weapon bans. These examples typify Mary's dedication to preserving gun-rights. Her motivation was a deep rooted belief in traditional American values. She viewed an armed society as the ultimate protection against a rogue, tyrannical federal government.

WEBSITE HAPPENINGS

Mary's Tribute Poster would normally have been Poster 47 in the standard numbering system used by Arizona Gun Talk. Poster 47 and its text were in fact produced in paper form over a year ago. Because it emphasized nullification of despotic federal laws by enacting countervailing state laws I never took it live. I was reticent to go on line with a controversial theme due to Mary's failing health. If I'm able, I will go on-line with Poster 47 soon with a new ending that uses the Constitution's Article V instead of nullification to counter repressive federal legislation.

Poster 46
2021-05-09

In the 2021 election, Democrats gained control of the Congress which makes their gun-control initiatives more likely to become law. The Poster 46 text examines prospective Biden/Harris anti-gun laws. Section 1 summarizes Democrat's anti-gun initiatives with a focus on laws that target Modern Sporting Rifles. Section 2 assesses the initiatives impact on millions of sporting rifle owners. Finally, Section 3 suggests how those owners should respond to enforcement of Biden/Harris anti-gun laws.

WEBSITE HAPPENINGS

Arizona Gun Talk argues that registering or relinquishing firearms must be opposed. Refusal to comply is the only acceptable response to such laws because they impact the unalienable right of self-defense which is the first law of nature. The right of self-defense comes from nature's laws and nature's God, not from the state. Because the right is not granted by government, the new administration can't abolish it. The text concludes by quoting the Declaration of Independence which observes that we are endowed with the unalienable rights of Life and Liberty. Those terms are coequal parts of the same coinage – there is no life without liberty.

Poster 45
2020-11-23

Gun-control advocates claim that AR-15 and AK-47 pattern rifles are "dangerous and unusual weapons" because they have military-like "bad" features which make them weapons of war. They hold that rifles with such features must be banned or heavily regulated. Arizona Gun Talk's SCOTUS Booklet argues that, 1) the claims about "bad" features are often demonstrably false and, 2) some "bad" features are uniquely suited to family self-defense and should not be regulated and, 3) mandated rifle modifications that eliminate "bad" features can make so-called assault weapons unsafe to operate.

WEBSITE HAPPENINGS

In response to the Biden/Harris promise to ban AR-15 and AK-47 rifles, Arizona Gun Talk created a document called "A Reference Booklet on "Assault Weapon Features." Paper copies were sent to each US Supreme Court Justice (including Justice Barrett) in late October. They cover the control and accuracy enhancing rifle features that lower courts have used to define "assault weapons." The Booklets demonstrate that the rifles should not be regulated as dangerous weapons of war as claimed by gun-control advocates. We hope the Court will use them for reference if an assault weapon case is heard this term.

Poster 44 A Message to Attendees of the 34th Gun Rights Policy Conference
2019-09-16

Poster 44's text relates that our family was unable to attend the Conference. Had we been there we would have reminded attendees that during the 2016 election the Obama Administration declared war on our Constitutional Republic. Administration officials conspired to elect their choice for president and having failed, initiated a sham Russia collusion investigation to undermine and eventually remove the newly elected president. This abortive coup is the most serious threat to the Republic since the Civil War.

WEBSITE HAPPENINGS

A poster called "A Message to Attendees of the 34th Gun Rights Policy Conference" and its supporting text went live on 16 September. In response to the Obama Administration's attempted coup, the text argues that the primary reason for the 2nd Amendment is to validate armed resistance to tyranny from any source including a despotic federal government. From that acknowledgement the text further states that the Amendment empowers citizens to resist any attempt to confiscate firearms in common use by millions of law-abiding Americans.

Poster 43 The "Bait-and-Switch" Background Check Bill
2019-08-12

This poster and text continue to warn gun owners about a prospective law called the "Bipartisan Background Check Act of 2019." It mandates that all non-family gun transfers require a background check administered by a Federal Firearms License (FFL) holder. By controlling transfers as opposed to sales the Act is gun-control by administrative exhaustion. For example, loaning a friend your plinking rifle is a transfer requiring two FFL holder supervised background checks; one for the loan and another for the return. The text provides examples to show that the Act will vastly complicate ownership of firearms without providing an increase in public safety.

WEBSITE HAPPENINGS

A poster called the "Bait-and-Switch" Background Check Bill and its supporting text went live on 12 August. Its text goes far beyond showing the Bill's effect on gun owners; it also examines events associated with the 2016 election. During the campaign, Obama administration officials conspired to elect Hillary Clinton. Having failed, they initiated a bogus Russia collusion investigation to undermine and eventually to nullify the Trump presidency. Their efforts can reasonably be seen as the most serious threat to the Republic since the civil war. Future Arizona Gun Talk postings will stress that the individual right to keep and bear arms recognized in the Heller decision is accompanied by a parallel right of individual states to use force in defending against a despotic federal government.

Poster 42 The Federal Background Check Scam
2019-04-01

The Democrat controlled 116th Congress introduced the "Bipartisan Background Check Act of 2019" (called H.R.8) in the first month of its tenure. On 27 February the Act became the first gun-control measure passed by the House of Representatives. It was sold as a way to control gun "sales" but the bait-and-switch Act actually deals with gun "transfers." As the Poster 42 text shows, if enacted, such a law will be an unacceptable burden on the nation's gun owners and could represent a first step toward confiscation.

WEBSITE HAPPENINGS

A poster called "The Federal Background Check Scam" and its supporting text went live on 1 April. It's our first posting in many months because of a of a house sale and subsequent move to a senior living apartment. The text uses examples to demonstrate that if H.B 8 regulations attain the force of law, firearms transactions will become so burdensome that simply owning guns will be a challenge. The Act will overturn how citizens have dealt with firearms for over 400 years. Many thanks to our webmaster, editors, and fact checkers for getting the material ready to post during Arizona's 2019 legislative session.

FINANCIAL TYRANNY
2018-04-16

Poster 41 and its text respond to recent decisions by Bank of America management. B of A recently announced that it will not "underwrite or finance military-style firearms" and has informed gun manufacturers such as Remington and Strum Ruger it will no longer do business with them. This should concern all firearms owners because it's gun-control by financial tyranny.

WEBSITE HAPPENINGS

On hearing of Bank of America's decision, our response was to document Arizona Gun Talk's reaction. We joined the line at our local branch and begin the frustrating, complex process of switching our accounts to the Wells Fargo bank - Wells Fargo is known for responsible financial support of firearms manufacturers. Bank of America's imposition of political correctness on customer support is not acceptable. We encourage those who agree to consider following our example.

HOW CALIFORNIA "ASSAULT WEAPON" LAWS AFFECT SELF-DEFENSE (# 4)
2018-04-16

Poster 40 and its illustrated text comprise the forth of several articles opposing the latest version of California's Assault Weapon Control Act (AWCA). This document deals with one of several "assault weapon" modifications required to avoid registering such firearms. It demonstrates that locking telescoping stocks is dangerous and has no effect on public safety. Locking "assault weapon" stocks in one position reduces the effectiveness of rifles purchased by law abiding citizens for self-defense. For example, it will disadvantage one family member over another when the rifle is needed.

HOW CALIFORNIA "ASSAULT WEAPON" LAWS AFFECT SELF-DEFENSE (# 3)
2018-01-08

Poster 38 and its illustrated text comprise the third of several articles opposing the latest version of California's Assault Weapon Control Act (AWCA). This article deals with one of several "assault weapon" modifications required to avoid registering such firearms. The posting addresses the implications of removing flash suppressors from both rifles and pistols as part of the process of making then "feature less." It demonstrates that removing flash suppressors limits the effectiveness of rifles purchased by law abiding citizens for self-defense. In a low light level home invasion, without a flash suppressor, firearms owners can become "flash-blind" after their first shot.
